This study aims to reveal the concept of the knowledge economy and innovation platforms،It seeks to identify the most important criteria for analyzing innovation platforms in general and to examine the “Ebtaker” Platform as a specific model that supports the knowledge economy. To achieve this, the study adopts a descriptive approach, employing content analysis to explore the various aspects of the knowledge economy and innovation platforms. Additionally, a case study method is utilized to analyze the “Ebtaker” Platform. For data collection, a checklist and direct observation of the “Ebtaker” Platform website were employed. Among the key findings of this study is that innovation platforms contribute significantly to the creation and generation of new knowledge. They also facilitate the preservation, dissemination, and sharing of knowledge among innovators, as well as enhance opportunities for applying this knowledge. The Ebtaker Platform offers a variety of tools and services that cater to the needs of innovators at different stages of their innovation journey. However, a notable drawback of the platform is the absence of a database to record information about knowledge experts. The study recommends raising awareness about the importance of innovation platforms and their role in promoting economic and social development. It also suggests that the Ebtaker Platform should create a database to monitor and record information about knowledge experts and innovators, and that the criteria established in this study should be adopted in the evaluation and analysis of innovation platforms across various sectors.

Utilizing information technology to address challenges in Hajj and Umrah: A narrative review
More LessThe management of crowds during the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages is a multifaceted challenge due to the massive influx of pilgrims to sacred sites in Makkah and Madinah, Saudi Arabia. With millions of pilgrims visiting these sacred sites, Saudi Arabia has adopted a variety of smart solutions to ensure safety, efficiency, and comfort. Radiofrequency identification is central to these efforts, enabling real-time tracking and access to personal data for security and service delivery. The integration of Internet of Things devices and the Global Positioning System allows for continuous monitoring, emergency response, and smooth navigation. Surveillance systems enhanced with computer vision and convolutional neural networks enable real-time video analysis, early congestion detection, and facial recognition. Big data analytics processes multisource data to optimize crowd flow and transportation. Artificial intelligence–driven smartphone applications and social media platforms support communication and multilingual engagement. Wearable technologies like Hajj Bracelets track health status and trigger emergency alerts. Collectively, these innovations significantly improve crowd control, safety, and the overall pilgrimage experience. Furthermore, technologies have broader implications for global crowd management in other large-scale events. The successful application of AI, the Internet of Things, and real-time systems marks a paradigm shift in managing large gatherings, aligning with the broader vision of smart and secure public event planning.

Librarians’ readiness towards artificial intelligence utilization for service delivery in university libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria
More LessAuthors: Olaronke O. Fagbola and Omotolani F. EgbebiUniversity libraries are the hub of knowledge management in institutions of higher learning. Increasingly, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an integral part of the modern library system. Although, as a game changer, technology has unlimited potential to transform library service delivery and operations to benefit patrons. However, technology should be utilized alongside human expertise and judgment to address ethical and privacy concerns. It is on this premise that this study examined librarians’ readiness towards AI utilization for service delivery in university libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria. A survey approach was adopted to conduct the study. Findings revealed that the respondents are aware of AI and exhibit a positive perception towards its utilization in university libraries. Also, librarians’ readiness towards AI utilization was best described by the fact that it will enhance productivity, promote efficiency, and innovativeness in the library. Without doubt, AI technologies have come to stay, there is therefore a need for university library management to put in place a framework that can be used in assessing the performance of librarians in the use of this novel technology through regular training. This will go a long way to enhance their understanding of AI, other related technologies, and their practical applications in the library ethically.

AI and the evolution of journalistic practices
More LessThis study investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) is a transformative power in traditional journalistic practice, focusing on new skills and competencies of journalists in an AI-driven newsroom. The methodological approach was mixed-methods and included semi-structured interviews with journalists and a content analysis comparing AI-generated with human-written news articles. Key findings reveal that AI encompasses efficiency, precision, and personalization in news delivery, as well as some big ethical challenges that involve biases in algorithms, privacy, and transparency of AI-generated content. The study outlines the imperative of journalists’ adaptation to the new evolving roles involving data analysis and technology use, with a close eye on journalistic integrity. This includes implications for the industry in terms of robust ethical standards, interdisciplinary collaboration between journalists and technologists, and educational reforms to prepare future journalists with the necessary skill set. If these challenges are addressed, AI can unleash its potential and help the journalism industry maintain its core values of accuracy, accountability, and service to the public. This paper contributes to the ongoing discourse on the future of journalism in the digital age, underlining some key ethical considerations as far as the integration of AI technologies is concerned.
