International Review of Law publishes first articles

27 May 2012

International Review of Law Journal has today published its first articles on QScience.com, the digital publishing portal for research journals. The International Review of Law Journal is a new, peer-reviewed international law journal that articulates contemporary legal discourse in all fields of law. All content in the journal is ‘open access’, meaning articles are free-to-read on the web and authors retain copyright on their works.

The International Review of Law aims to bring perspectives from around the world to developments in the law. The journal is open to doctrinal, context-based, reformative or comparative work, in all fields of law. Authors who want to reach an audience beyond traditional fixed locations will welcome this new open-access platform, which accepts submissions in both English and Arabic and provides abstract translations.

Dr. Jon Truby, Editor in Chief of the International Review of Law Journal and  Assistant Professor in Law at Qatar University, said, “The launch of International Review of Law journal has created a neutral platform bringing together lawyers and scholars with complete academic freedom, the journal intends to accommodate competing ideas and engage credible academic and practical discussion. We are delighted with the thought-provoking contributions from the highly distinguished authors of this edition who have demonstrated skill and originality in their analyses. The range of articles presented herein represents the international temperament of our journal, with authors from Europe, Australia, the USA, Asia and the Middle East. Furthermore, the wide distribution and accessibility of this journal will maximize its readership and broaden its reach.”

Arend Küster, Managing Director of QScience, said, “We are excited about this new journal as it brings the increased importance of Qatar and the Middle East to the world of international law.  The International Review of Law should provide a platform for high quality thought, discussion and dissemination to review the latest legal developments from a unique and fully international perspective.  We are exceptionally proud to be able to team with Qatar University to deliver this resource through our QScience platform.”

Alongside these articles, QScience.com has also introduced an online commenting facility, linked to the readers’ social media accounts, which allows for direct communication on the article with the author and other readers.
This new service adds to the already existing features of article-level metrics, measuring downloads and citations, and the personalization and mobile features of the site, allowing browsing of content and access to search alerts with Blackberry, iPhone and Android handsets.
QScience.com already hosts twelve scholarly journals covering diverse subject areas such as information & library studies, sustainable energy, education, medicine and bioscience, Middle Eastern healthcare, law, design and Islamic studies.  Many other journals are scheduled to be added in 2012.
