Abstract

Mucous cysts formation following a rhinoplasty is a rare complication and typically presents late. Only one case has been reported in our department. The cysts seem to arise from mucosal remnants left in the subcutaneous layer and must be distinguished from other complications causing post-operative swelling of the nose, such as foreign body, paraffinoma (rare nowadays) and bony or cartilaginous fragments. We describe a case of dorsal mucous cysts following rhinoplasty, provide a quick review of the relevant literature and discuss the surgical removal of this unusual lesion.
