Abstract

This research aimed to determine the positive effect of organic acids on the growth and productivity of the apple tree through foliar spraying. The study was conducted in Hosh Arab, Rankous district, part of the Al-Tall area in the Damascus countryside governorate, during 2021-2022. The research included two variables. The first was the type of acid: humic acid - amino acids. The second variable was the concentration of the acid: 0, 2, and 4 ml/l for each. The study included 9 treatments, with eighty-one apple trees used in the experiment. The trees were in full fruiting stage and were 18 years old. The experiment was designed following a completely randomized block design. The results indicated an improvement in the values of the study indicators under the influence of organic acids. Specifically, the 4 ml/l concentration of amino acids recorded a significant superiority over the other concentrations. The leaf area increased to 42.06 cm2 per leaf, compared to 28.32 cm2 per leaf in the control group. Additionally, production increased by 134% compared to the control group of 64.00 kg/tree. As for humic acid, all indicators were noted to improve with foliar spraying, with no significant effect observed among its concentrations. Regarding the interaction of treatments, the treatment of 4 ml/l humic acid x 4 ml Amino acid produced the highest results in production increase, the percentage increase in the production index was 117% compared to the control, 69.58 kg/tree. Organic acids (humic and amino acids) promoted the growth of the apple trees and led to an increase in production. This was significantly evident with amino acids up to a concentration of 4 ml/l. However, the concentration of humic acid did not show a significant impact. The research also revealed that the combined application of both acids at higher concentrations achieved the best results, surpassing the effects of using each acid individually.
