ملخص

The focus of this paper is the role that parents, teachers and other support workers play in supporting people with learning disabilities to learn, develop and reach their full potential and the extent to which an approach called positive risk-taking might be a useful one for them to adopt. At the heart of positive-risk-taking is the concept of shared-decision-making which involves a partnership between people with learning disabilities and all those who support them. In discussing positive risk-taking and shared decision-making, this paper will consider the extent to which these approaches are relevant or appropriate in Qatari social and educational contexts.
